7. Cookies

If you use our website we store certain information on your computer’s hard drive using so-called cookies (small text or image files). Cookies allow us to modify the website to your interests and needs. For example, a cookie may contain information about the pages you have visited, which enables us to modify the website accordingly for your next visit. Cookies do not provide us with access to other areas on your computer.

Most web browsers enable cookies to be deleted or a warning to be shown before a cookie is stored on your hard drive. Please obtain information from your browser's documentation or help screen to learn more about this option. But please be aware that you may not be able to use all of the services or offers on our website if you deactivate cookies.

8. Using tracking tools, social plug-ins

8.1 Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics, a web analysis service by Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited (“Adobe”), is used on our website. Adobe Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are saved on your computer and enable the use of the website to be analysed. If the information on the website’s use generated by the cookie is transferred to an Adobe server, the settings ensure that the IP address is anonymized before geo-localisation and is replaced with a generic IP address before storage. On behalf of OLYMPUS EUROPA SE & Co. KG, Adobe uses this information to analyse the use of the website, create reports on the website activities and provide other services associated with the website and internet use for the website operator. The IP address provided using Adobe Analytics is not combined with other Adobe data. You can prevent the installation of cookies using an appropriate setting in your browser software. However, we point out that in this case you may not be able to use all of the functions of this website. You can also prevent the recording of the data created by the cookie related to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) by Adobe and the processing of this data by Adobe by downloading and installing a browser plug-in available from the following link: http://www.adobe.com/uk/privacy/opt-out.html

8.2 Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are saved on your computer and enable the use of the website to be analysed. The information created by the Google Analytics cookie on your use of this website is transferred to and stored on a Google server in the US. On this website Google Analytics was extended to include the “gat._anonymizeIp();" code to ensure IP addresses are collected anonymously (called IP masking). This enables Google to shorten your IP address within the EU member states or other member states of the European Economic Area.

The complete IP address is only transferred to a Google server in the US in exceptional circumstances and then shortened there. Google will use this information to analyse your use of the website, create reports on website activities for operators and to provide services associated with using the website and internet.

The IP address provided from your browser as part of Google Analytics is not connected with other data stored by Google. You can prevent the recording of the data generated by the Google Analytics cookie that relates to your use of the website (including your IP address) and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in on the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

You can prevent recording by Google Analytics by clicking the following link. An opt-out cookie is used to prevent the future recording of your data when visiting this website: Deactivate Google Analytics

You can find more information on the usage terms and data privacy at http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/gb.html or https://www.google.com/intl/gb/policies/.

8.3 Google AdWords

Our website uses the Google AdWords service. Google AdWords is an online advertising program by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

We use on the one hand the remarketing function within the Google Adword service. With the remarketing function, we can present adverts based on their interests to website users on other websites in the Google display network (Google itself, so-called “Google ads”, or on other websites). For this, the user’s interaction on our website is analysed, e.g. the offers the user is interested in, to be able to show target adverts on other pages after visiting our website. To do so, Google saves a number in the user's browser when they visit certain Google services or websites in the Google display network. This user's visits are recorded via this number, which is referred to as a “cookie”. This number is used to uniquely identify a web browser on a particular computer and not to identify a person; personal data is not stored. You can deactivate the use of the cookie by Google by following this link, then downloading and installing the plug-in provided there: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin. For more information on Google remarketing and the Google data privacy declaration, see: http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/

We also use so-called conversion tracking as part of the Google AdWords service. When you click on an advert placed by Google, a cookie is stored for conversion tracking on your computer/device. These cookies become invalid after 30 days, do not contain personal information and are not used for personal identification. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to produce conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking.

You can prevent the installation of cookies by adjusting the relevant setting in your browser software; but in this case, we expressly point out that you may not be able to use the full functions of this website. You can also deactivate interest-related adverts on Google and interest-related Google adverts in the web (within the Google display network) in your browser by activating the “Off” button under http://www.google.com/settings/ads or deactivating it at http://www.aboutads.info/choices/. You can find additional information on related options and data privacy at Google under https://www.google.com/intl/gb/policies/privacy/.

8.4. Pinterest

Our website uses the Pin-it button from Pinterest as a social plug-in. When it is displayed or clicked, it creates a direct connection between your computer and the Pinterest server. Pinterest can collect personal and non-personal data from you. We recommend getting information on the types of data this covers, the purpose and scope of the data collection, the ongoing processing and use of the data by Pinterest as well as your rights and setting options to protect your private sphere by reading the data privacy information on facebook.com, twitter.com or pinterest.com.

9. Your rights

You can also revoke your consent at any time if we collect and process your personal data with your consent. Revoking your consent has no influence on the legality of processing your personal data that we have undertaken before your consent was revoked nor on the processing of your personal data that we have undertaken based on a justified interest and for which no consent is required.
